What A Cable And A Brace Each Do

A cable works as a flexible steel line set high in the crown, keeping two stems from spreading further apart when the wind moves them. A brace is different: a threaded steel rod passed straight through a split, pulling and holding both sides together directly.

Properly installed tree cabling and bracing hardware typically lasts a decade or more before it needs a look, though we recommend having any tree cabling and bracing installation inspected every few years regardless of its age.
